Jimmy was released in March 2021. In desperate need of housing, he reached out to the NEW Reentry Council seeking housing assistance. He was very determined to succeed in life and obtain a new skill that would help him get a living-wage job.
Jimmy enrolled in the OIC SOAR program after his case manager recommended it. He completed the training and received a Rise-Up certificate for Customer Service & Sales and a Certificate of Completion from the SOAR program.
With his new skills and certifications, Jimmy is hunting for a job. He is confident he will get a job soon, and is already lining up interviews. He says, “I never would have made it without help from the NEW Reentry staff.”
With a job coming, Jimmy hopes to save enough money to buy a car in the next six months and soon after move back home to New Bern to be with his family.
